Good news: UKBA recommences issuing of successful Tier 1 (General) applications

01 November 2010

On 19th July 2010, the UK Government introduced a limit on the number of initial applications that can be issued under Tier 1 (General) of the Points Based System until 31 March 2011.

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) administers the limit on a monthly basis. In order to avoid breaching the monthly allocation for October 2010, the UKBA stopped issuing visas for Tier 1 (General) on 20 October. The new limit for this month has reopened today, 1 November 2010.

All applications are processed in the order in which they are received at post in so far as that is operationally possible. Please note that the limit does not affect applications from dependents or applications to extend existing Tier 1 visas. Similarly there is no cap on in-country applications under the Tier 1 Scheme.
