Register of "highly trusted sponsors" will go live on 6 April 2010.

Mar 31, 2010

To qualify as a highly trusted sponsor, an academic institution or college must show a solid track record in enrolling genuine international students who comply with the immigration rules. The benefits for this category are that trusted sponsors will be able offer a wider range of courses – courses at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 3 and equivalents and courses below degree level that encompass a work placement, a dedicated account management and a more flexible approach to reporting student non-attendance.

Publicly funded institutions such as universities which are currently A-rated will de facto consindered to have highly trusted status if they are subject to a full institutional inspection by any of the following: The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education, The Office from Standards in Education (Ofsted), Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (in Scotland), Estyn (in Wales) and The Education and Training Inspectorate (in Northern Ireland).

Sponsors will then need to submit an application form, with the correct fee, by 30 June 2010. If they do not register by this date they will be removed from the register.
