Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme - important changes to the Rules!
20 January 2012
As previously published, Taiwan has now been added to the countries eligible to apply under the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme. However, prospective applicants should bear in mind that their application will be dealt on a first come first serve basis and there is a strict limit on number of places available for each participating country.
From 9 January 2012 these allocation figures are listed against each country in Appendix G. Please see below:
- Australia - 32,500 places
- Canada - 5,000 places
- Japan - 1,000 places
- New Zealand - 10,000 places
- Monaco - 1,000 places
- Taiwan - 1,000 places
In addition, the Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules has introduced the concept of “deemed” sponsorship status whereby all countries listed under Appendix G are considered to be low risk countries by the UK Border Agency and as such their nationals no longer need to apply and provide the British Embassy with a Certificate of Sponsorship as part of their entry clearance application with the exception of Taiwan.
