Renewal of sponsorship certificates allowance

From 5 October 2009 all registered sponsors who obtained a Sponsorship Licence in 2008 will be able to request next year’s allowance of sponsorship certificates.
Allocation of certificates of sponsorship must be requested annually via the sponsor management system (SMS). The first request should be made by the first anniversary of the date when a sponsor was notified that their account on the SMS was live. In future years, follow-on request must be made within a year from the previous allocation grant.
Licensed sponsors registered in multiple tiers and categories of the points-based system who obtained registration at different times can choose to align the expiry dates to allow easier management of renewal process.
Annual allocation requests do not affect the four-year period for which sponsor licence is valid.
Sponsors who will fail to renew their request will not be able to issue certificates of sponsorship until their new certificates allowance is approved.
