Biometric Residence Permit – International Rollout Schedule

On 2 February 2015, the Home Office announced new regulations, outlining new requirement for non-EEA nationals, seeking permission from the abroad to enter the UK for more than six month, to apply for a Biometric Residence Card (BRP).

Following the announcement, in April 2015 the Home Office published an International Rollout Schedule, listing the countries set in four groups and the dates, when a new regulation came/will come into force. For example Vietnamese nationals, who applied for a visa to the UK on or after 18 March 2015, will have to collect their Biometric Residence Permit from the designated Post Office within 10 days upon arrival in the UK on a “travel vignette”.

The nationals of the following countries, who applied for a UK visa on or after 15 April 2015, also have to comply with a new requirement:

  • Estonia
  • Laos
  • Portugal
  • Bangladesh
  • Finland
  • Libya
  • Republic of Ireland
  • Bhutan
  • Germany
  • Maldives
  • Spain
  • Burma
  • Gibraltar
  • Malta
  • Sri Lanka
  • Cambodia
  • Iceland
  • Nepal
  • Sweden
  • China
  • India
  • Netherlands
  • Thailand
  • Cyprus
  • Indonesia
  • North Korea
  • Vietnam

On 31 May 2015 the new requirement will come into force in the following countries:
