Guidance on how to book a TB test in China

05 November 2015

Tuberculosis (TB) screening is mandatory in certain countries (including China) in order to be granted a visa or an entry clearance to enter and remain in the UK for more than 6 months. The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) only accepts TB test certificates which are issued from a list of approved clinics currently listed under the Appendix T of the Immigration Rules.

In terms of arranging a TB test, an applicant will first need to contact one of the approved clinics in China to book an appointment and he/she must clearly state that the purpose of the test is for a UK visa application. Once the test appointment is booked, it cannot be rearranged.
Secondly, you will need to bring the documents to the clinic for example, passport/ID, test fees and previous medical notes or x-ray results (if you have or have had any lung disease). If the applicant wishes to do the test with a female clinician, this should be confirmed during the booking.
Please note that the current fee for a TB test is 550 RMB (approximately £56) in China.
