UK Immigration: Do you know how to enrol your biometrics?

Jan 14, 2010

This article wishes to clarify the procedure relating to biometrics and Identity Card for Foreign Nationals (ICFNs) as we understand from the enquiries received that there is still some confusion. If you fall in an immigration category which requires you to attend a biometric appointment, the following steps will occur.

Once you have lodged your postal application as a Tier 4 Students, Tier 2 Sponsored Skilled Workers or Domestic Worker (the list is not exhaustive), you will receive an acknowledgement letter from the UK Border Agency with a unique Case Reference Number inviting you to book a biometric appointment within 15 working days from the date of the letter.

There are three ways in which you can enrol your biometrics:

1. using the UK Border Agency Online Booking Service at https:// ukbabooking.homeoffice.gov.uk/

2. telephoning the UK Border Agency Customer Contact Center on 0 300 123 8895

3. visiting one of the participating 17 Post Office Ltd branches but only if the post code used in your application form falls within the post office's area. There are currently four post offices in the London area (Battersea, Camden, Old Street and Earls Court). You will not need to pre-book an appointment, as this service is currently run on a first come fisrt served basis. There is also an additional handling fee in the amount £ 8.

If you are under the age of 16, you will need to be accompanied by a parent or a responsible adult.

If you have an enquiry relating to your immigration status or your ability to work in the UK, we can help you. Please contact us or call +44 20 3384 3075.
