UK Immigration: Tier 4 Student category suspended for applicants from India, Nepal and Bangladesh

Feb 1, 2010

On 1 February 2010, the UK immigration authorities (UK Border Agency) suspended applications for UK Tier 4 Students visas from North India, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The ban has allegedly been put into action so that UK immigration authorities can scrutinize applications from these countries more closely.

According to Mr Jeremy Oppenheim, the head of the points-based system at the UK Border Agency, the authorities ' continually check and monitor all student applications and education providers to ensure that they meet the required standards set by the points-based system. As a result of this routine monitoring and an increase in applications, they temporarily stopped accepting new applications from North India, Nepal and Bangladesh to carry out an investigation to ensure they are all genuine'.

The suspension will be in place until further notice!
