This may seem a rather common sense advice, however, many migrants still experience disappointment and disruption to their business or personal travelling plans when they are unable to book a same day in person appointment at the UK Border Agency.
Unfortunately, due to the limited number of caseworkers processing same day applications, the daily number of slots available are restricted. Thus, we would strongly encourage to book at least 2 months in advance bearing in mind the date when your current visa or leave to remain expires.
You can book an appointment for a premium application by phoning 0870 606 7766 or to enrol your biometrics by calling 0300 123 8895. In the alternative, if you have a valid email address you can try to book an in person appointment by logging into https://ukbabooking.homeoffice.gov.uk/ukba/index.start.
Finally, we would recommend to have a copy of the application bundle readily available on the date of your appointment and of course to be on time as you may otherwise loose your appointment.
In the alternative, you can instruct a legal immigration firm to prepare and submit the application on your behalf.

Please note that for certain applications including Tier 2 applications, limited leave to remain as dependant spouse or civil/unmarried partner as well as a Tier 4 Student applications you will need to enrol your biometrics and attend in person. However, we can help with the process to make it as straightforward as possible.
Tier 2 slots will become available as of 1 March 2010. As mentioned above, Tier 2 applications involve the capture of biometric data which means that the main applicant and his/ her dependants will need to attend in person accompanied by their legal representative. We are told that a decision will be ready the following day and the applicants should be provided with their Identity Card for Foreign Nationals.
