As of 1 March 2010 the same day service for applications under the Tier 2 category of the points-based system becomes available. Tier 2 applications involve the capture of biometric data which means that the main applicant and his/ her dependants will need to attend in person accompanied by their legal representative. The final decision on the application will be made the following day and the applicants will be provided with their Identity Card for Foreign Nationals.
The fast track processing of Tier 2 applications will be available on an extremely limited basis with a maximum capacity of 10 appointments per day. Requests for the same day slots are allocated on a first come, first serve basis, therefore, it is important to book an appointment early to avoid disappointments.
