We have noticed that nationality applications recently submitted under section 6(1) and 6(2) of the 1981 British Nationality Act have a turn-around time of 8 to 12 weeks. Following an acknowledgment letter confirming that the application has been approved, the UK Border Agency will send a Citizenship Invitation Letter to book a ceremony with the relevant local council. There is no fast track service to obtain a British passport.
