Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme suspended
Under the current UK immigraiton rules the Tier 5 Youth Mobility category of the points-based system is based on an annual quota. Nationals from countries particiapating, namely Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand can apply to live and work in the UK for a maximum period of 24 months.
The annual quota of visas granted under Tier 5 Youth Mobility category for Japanese nationals for the year 2010 has now been reached. The British Embassy in Japan will no longer be accepting new applications until the end of the year.
Applicants from Japan will have to wait until 1 January 2011 before applying under this particular visa category.
Nationals of Australia, Canada and New Zealand may continue to apply throughout 2010 until further notice.
