EEA Nationals and right of permanent residence
If you have spent five years in the UK exercising EEA rights, there is be no need for you to apply for permanent residence with an EEA 3 form which might take up to 6 months ( there is no same day service for this type of application unlike an application for a registration certificate).
In fact, you would have acquired automatically permanent residence status after exercising EEA free movement rights in the UK for any continous period of 5 years ending on or after 30 April 2006. After six years subject to meeting the requirement of section 6(1) of the 1981 British Nationality Act you might qualify for nationality.
If you have an enquiry relating to your immigration status or your ability to work in the UK, we can help you. Please contact us or call +44 20 3384 3075.
