Allocations of Restricted Certificate of Sponsorship in June 2016

Between January and June 2016, the  UKVI approved 11150 restricted Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS). This means that the number of available restricted CoS per month has been approximately 1858. However, this allocation might be higher or lower depending on how many CoS were unused or returned in the previous month.

As a result, the minimum points threshold for granting a restricted CoS can vary on a monthly basis partially due to the requests made by UK employers, who are Tier 2 sponsors. For instance, in the first half of year, the minimum threshold for a restricted CoS was 21 points, whereby applicants only need to meet the annual salary requirement of £20,800. Compared to 2015, this lower threshold might be due to a reduced demand for restricted CoS as well as the new point brands table introduced by the UKVI in September 2015.

In order to qualify for a Tier 2 General visa, applicants will need to meet all the requirements under the Point Based System of the Immigration Rules. If you are concerned about working in the UK and wish to seek legal advice, please email us at [email protected].
