New A2 English Language Requirement for Migrants under the Family Route

On 18 January 2016, the UKVI announced the new English requirement for further leave to remain extension applications made by migrants who are partners of British citizens or ILR holders. This means that the applicants will need to demonstrate level A2 in English proficiency if they were to submit their applications after October 2016.

In respond to the new government announcement, the Trinity College has launched their new SELT, GESE Grade 3 (A2) test. The English test should be taken at one of the UKVI approved test centres.

The English Requirement for entry clearance applicants under the Appendix FM remains the same.

We strongly recommend migrants under the family route to prepare for the English test at their earliest convenience or any other matters.
