OVRO update

Migrants who are (a) 16 years of age or older and (b) from certain countries will need to register with the police on their arrival in the UK. Individuals who reside in London, will need to register with Overseas Visitors Records Office (OVRO).

Due to the pandemic, the OVRO will remain closed until further notice. In addition, the registration services have been suspended.

We have now been notified that OVRO will release a new online registration portal in April 2021. Under the new system, migrants will need to create an online account and enter their details, including uploading a photograph prior to attending their appointment.

Please note that the 7-day requirement to register with the police will only be regarded as being satisfied as soon as an account has been created and all registration details have been submitted online to the OVRO.

However, individuals will still need to attend the OVRO for ID verification, passport endorsement and to be issued with a police registration certificate (PRC).

Please be advised that no penalty action will be taken for delays caused in registering/reporting changes as a result of OVRO’s closure.
