Applying for pre-licence priority

UK employers or companies wishing to hire an overseas worker under the skilled worker visa category will need to have a valid sponsorship licence. When applying for a licence, sponsors may be able to prioritise their application by using the priority service for an additional £500. This is subject to meeting the eligibility requirements listed below.

Who is eligible?

  • The sponsor must have submitted a sponsor licence application using the ‘online sponsor application registration’. They will need to complete the online form and provide the relevant supporting documents as part of their application.
  • The request must not have already been already progressed or allocated to a caseworker for consideration
  • The application must have been submitted using the pre-licence priority service.

Making an application

Once the online application has been submitted, the UKVI will send an email asking whether you wish to opt for the priority service. In order to proceed, an email will need to be sent to the following address: [email protected], with a completed application form request attached.

The request must be emailed between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. Requests outside these working hours will not be considered.

10 priority requests are accepted on a daily basis, which means that a request should be sent as early as possible in order to have a higher chance of acceptance.

If the request was successful, the priority service team will be in touch confirming this. A second email will also be received with a Worldpay link for payment to be made within 72 hours.

If the request was unsuccessful, it may be because the daily allocation limit has been reached, the request may be ineligible or because the request was submitted outside the working hours.

How long does it take?

Requests will take 10 days to be processed, from the day after payment or the date the submission sheet is received.

There may be cases in which requests take longer to be processed, this may be because the matter is complex or additional checks needs to be made. Alternatively, the priority team may require additional information to process the request.

Once it has been prioritised, the outcome will be sent via email.
