Tier 1 Investor Scheme- what next?

On 17 February 2022, the Home Office closed the Tier 1 Investor route with immediate effect. New applicants are no longer able to submit an entry clearance application under the Tier 1 Investor category. Individuals who are currently residing in the UK as a Tier 1 Investor migrant, will be able to apply for an extension or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

The Tier 1 Investor scheme allowed migrants to enter and reside in the UK with a minimum investment of £2 million sterling pounds in share capital or loan capital in active and trading UK registered companies.

However, it has been under constant review due to security concerns, such as money laundering or wider corruption etc.

The Home Office states that they will be making reforms to the Innovator route in autumn 2022, to provide an ambitious investment scheme which works more effectively in support of the UK’s economy.
