In order to qualify the extension, migrants will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Work for the NHS or an independent healthcare provider in an eligible profession.

You can extend your visa if you are a:

  • dental practitioner
  • health professional
  • medical practitioner
  • medical radiographer
  • midwife
  • nurse
  • occupational therapist
  • ophthalmologist
  • paramedic
  • pharmacist
  • physiotherapist
  • podiatrist
  • psychologist
  • social worker
  • speech and language therapist
  • therapy professional

How to apply for the visa extension?

Your employer will need to post yours and your family’s current biometric residence permits (BRPs) to the UKVI if you are eligible for the extension. Please note that it is free, and you do not need to pay the immigration health surcharge (IHS) at the extension stage.
