The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has now published a new AN policy guidance, which should be read in conjunction with the requirements pursuant to section 6(1) or section 6(2) of the 1981 British Nationality Act.<\/p>\n
A key change is the requirement for an applicant to return his\/her biometric card (BRP) once naturalised as a British Citisen, at the latest within 5 days from the date of the Citizenship ceremony.<\/p>\n
The biometric card will need to be sent to the following address in order to be destroyed:<\/p>\n

The applicant must cut the BRP and return it in a windowless plain envelope, with a covering note, which clearly explains the reason for return or an explanation for not returning the card.<\/p>\n
Should you fail to return the BRP, or notify the department of the reasons for not being able to do so, the Secretary of State may impose a fine of up to \u00a31,000.<\/p>\n
If you need to travel to and from the UK after being granted British citizenship you must apply for a British passport or a Certificate of entitlement to the right of abode, to be placed in your foreign passport.<\/p>\n
