Some migrants can use a \u2018UK Immigration: ID Check\u2019 App to verify their identity once they start their application online at GOV.UK. The app will check whether their identity document is genuine and verify that the document belongs to them.<\/p>\n

However, the above only applies to individuals who hold a biometric passport from an EU country, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland or a biometric British national (overseas), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) if they are applying for the BNO visa.<\/p>\n

Individuals who are applying to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS), must use the \u2018EU Exit: ID Document Check\u2019 App instead.<\/p>\n

Android users can download the app from the following website: https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=uk.gov.HomeOffice.ho2&hl=en_GB&gl=US<\/a>, whilst Iphone users can download from https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/uk-immigration-id-check\/id1499891460<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Please note you must start an application form and create a UK Visas and Immigration account online at GOV.UK before using the App.<\/p>\n

Applicants will be asked to scan a QR code or use a connection code to connect to the App. Migrants then will then need to take a photo of the biodata page of their passport. Please make sure that there is a biometric chip in your passport and can be read by the app. After taking the photo, please select the \u2018check now\u2019 button in the app, you can then place the phone on top of your passport. For HKSAR passports holders, they should place the mobile on the back of their passport.<\/p>\n

The screen will show \u2018information checked\u2019 once the App has successfully read the chip in their passport.<\/p>\n

What if the app cannot read the chip in your passport?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If the App cannot read the chip in your passport, for example, if you have a HKSAR passport with a number starting with \u2018K\u2019, it might be harder to read the chip. In this case, you can restart the \u2018confirm identity\u2019 task on the application dashboard and use another BNO or EEA passport with a biometric chip. Alternatively, you can book an appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) or a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) service point.<\/p>\n

Scan your face<\/strong><\/p>\n

Individuals can scan their face by using their phone\u2019s camera or skip this step and provide different evidence to prove their identity. Please note that if the applicant is 10 years old or younger, he\/she will not be asked to scan their face.<\/p>\n

Please ensure that you do not have hair covering your eyes, a head covering (unless it is for religious or medical reasons), any shadows on your face or behind you, objects or other people in the photo when you take a picture of yourself.<\/p>\n

Completing your application<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can complete the rest of the application once your identity has been confirmed by using any mobile phone, tablet, laptop or computer.<\/p>\n

Applicants can travel to the UK using their digital immigration status if their application is successful.<\/p>\n
