Migrants can now provide their right to rent or right to work in the UK via the website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/view-prove-immigration-status\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/view-prove-immigration-status<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals can view their immigration status online by using the website above, for example using a \u2018share code\u2019 to prove their legal status to employers; updating personal details in their UK Visas and Immigration account; or checking their right to work\/rent.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that migrants have to select one of three options for sharing their immigration status:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To prove their right to rent in England;<\/li>\n<li>To prove their right to work in the UK;<\/li>\n<li>For another reason.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each share code can only be used for the purpose it was originally selected for.\u00a0 For instance, a share code generated to prove an individual&#8217;s right to work can only be used in the &#8216;View a job applicant&#8217;s right to work details&#8217; online service.\u00a0 If the same code is entered into the &#8216;View a tenant&#8217;s right to rent in England&#8217; service, the share code will not work.<\/p>\n<p>Migrants will be able to use this service if they have Settled or Pre-Settled status under the EUSS or they applied for a visa and used the \u2018UK Immigration ID Check\u2019 App to scan their identity document on their phone.<\/p>\n<p>Please be advised that individuals cannot use this service if they have a vignette in their passport or a biometric residence permit (BRP) to prove their immigration status.<\/p>\n<p>For those who are holding a BRP number or BRP card, will be able to use the link \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/prove-right-to-work\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/prove-right-to-work<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/prove-right-to-rent\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/prove-right-to-rent<\/a> to check their right to work\/rent in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The Home Office has created letters \u2018R\u2019 \u2018W\u2019 and \u2018S\u2019 to indicate the share code. For example, \u2018R\u2019 will indicate the share code has been generated by an individual to evidence their right to rent, \u2018W\u2019 for evidence their right to work, whilst \u2018S\u2019 for another reason other than rent or work.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Home Office has extended the validity period of share codes from 30 days to 90 days.
