The Global Talent route is for people aged 18 or over in the field of science, engineering, humanities, medicine, digital technology or arts and culture who can show they have exceptional talent or exceptional promise. This visa route introduced in February 2020 for attracting exceptional talents into the country, has replaced the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa.<\/p>\n

In brief, to apply for a Global Talent visa, you will have to make applications for both 1) endorsement (guidance on the relevant evidence and its format is updated from time to time by the Secretary of State on gov.uk\/global talent) and \u00a02)entry clearance or further leave to remain.<\/p>\n

In the alternative, a person who has been awarded a prestigious prize listed in Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0will be deemed as showing defacto<\/em> exceptional talent and is therefore not required to apply for an endorsement.<\/p>\n

Steps to apply for an endorsement are as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Complete the \u201cApply for Global Talent endorsement – stage 1\u201d online on the gov.uk website and supply all mandatory evidence.<\/li>\n
  2. If applicants search for endorsement by Tech Nation must also complete the additional form found on the Tech Nation website: http:\/\/technation.io\/visa\/apply<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Pay the relevant fees<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Please note that your relevant field must fall in: Arts and Culture; Architecture; Fashion design; Film and television; Digital technology; Science, engineering, humanities and medicine.<\/p>\n

    Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Global talent is a point-based scheme visa route. To be eligible for an entry clearance or permission to stay, you must be awarded 70 points<\/u><\/strong> meeting one of the requirements listed below:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. An applicant making an initial application not relying on an endorsement:
      \nhas been awarded a prize listed in Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes.<\/li>\n
    2. An applicant making an initial application relying on an endorsement:
      \nhas been issued with an endorsement letter by an endorsing body; and
      \n\u2022 the date of application is no more than 3 months after the date on the endorsement letter; and
      \n\u2022 the endorsement has not been withdrawn by the endorsing body.<\/li>\n
    3. An applicant applying for an extension of their permission:
      \nhas met the earned money requirement; and
      \n\u2022 if they were granted their initial application using an endorsement, has not had their endorsement withdrawn by the endorsing body.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Application fees<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. It costs \u00a3623 to apply for entry clearance or further leave to remain.<\/li>\n
      2. If you\u2019re applying based on an endorsement, the \u00a3623 can be paid in two parts:<\/li>\n
      3. \u00a3456 when you apply for the endorsement; \u00a3167 when you apply for the visa itself<\/li>\n
      4. Otherwise, the full amount of \u00a3623 is required when applying.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Extension and Settlement<\/strong><\/p>\n

        GT 7.1. Permission will be granted for the period of years the applicant requests, up to a maximum of 5 years on each application.<\/em><\/p>\n

        GT 7.2. There is no limit on the total period of permission that may be granted on the Global Talent route.<\/em><\/p>\n

        GT 7.3. The grant will be subject to all the following conditions:<\/em><\/p>\n

        (a) no access to public funds; and<\/em><\/p>\n

        (b) work (including self-employment and voluntary work) permitted except for employment as a professional sportsperson (including as a sports coach); and<\/em><\/p>\n

        (c) study is permitted, subject to the ATAS condition in Appendix ATAS.<\/em><\/p>\n

        \u2026.<\/em><\/p>\n

        You can live and work in the UK for up to 5 years at a time.<\/p>\n

        There\u2019s no limit to how long you can stay in the UK in total, but you will need to extend your visa when it expires. The extension period is range from 1 to 5 years, depending on the selection of the applicant.<\/p>\n

        GT 11.1. The applicant must have spent a continuous period of 3 years in the UK if:<\/em><\/p>\n

        (a) they were endorsed by the Royal Society, British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering or UKRI; or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (b) they were endorsed under the exceptional talent criteria by Arts Council England or Tech Nation; or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (c) they were granted their initial application using a prize listed in Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes.<\/em><\/p>\n

        GT 11.2. The applicant must have spent a continuous period of 5 years in the UK if they were endorsed under the exceptional promise criteria by Arts Council England or Tech Nation.<\/em><\/p>\n

        GT 11.3. The continuous period must consist of time with permission on any of (or any combination of), the following routes:<\/em><\/p>\n

        (a) Global Talent; or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (b) Innovator; or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (c) Skilled Worker; or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (d) T2 Minister of Religion; or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (e) T2 Sportsperson; or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (f) Tier 1 Migrant, other than Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur); or<\/em><\/p>\n

        (g) Scale-up.<\/em><\/p>\n

        You may be able to obtain\u00a0Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) so you can settle in the UK<\/a>\u00a0after 3 or 5 years<\/strong>, depending on which field you work. According to the current Immigration Rules, Global Talent Visa holders can add time spent under other visa categories in point-based system towards their\u00a0 ILR residence period.<\/p>\n
